Manipulated: Deadline extended + Portfolio Reviews with our Juror!
There’s still plenty of time to submit your work to our upcoming juried exhibition, Manipulated. Manipulated is an open call for photo-based works which have been altered by the artist’s physical hand at any point in the process of its creation. Any content and media is acceptable— alternative methods, darkroom methods, and/or digital methods— as long as the actual hand of the artist has been employed to manipulate either the negative, the print, or both. Images which have been altered using digital methods are welcome, but only when utilized in addition to physical manipulation by hand. The juror for Manipulated is Ariel Shanberg, Executive Direcor of the Center for Photography at Woodstock (CPW). We are thrilled to bring Ariel on as a juror, and can’t wait to see your submissions, keep them coming!

Additionally, we will be hosting portfolio reviews with our juror the following day on Saturday, October 15th. We will allow time for 8-10 fifteen minute reviews, from 3-5 pm. After the reviews, we will have an informal meet and great + social hour with Ariel which anyone is welcome to attend. Artists will be asked to show 8-12 cohesive prints, all from a relevant series or body of work. We are very excited to offer this to our local community, we look forward putting together a great group of photographers for Shanberg to review! If you are a photographer who is interested in a review please email 3-4 images to heidi@castellphotography.com, as well as a few sentences about the work which you are submitting and why you want to participate in the portfolio review with Shanberg. Work submitted must be from the body of work which will be reviewed by Shanberg. All participating photographers will be chosen on or before September 30th, but please submit your images as soon as possible as artists will be chosen on an ongoing basis.
